Mega Fight Between Bradley and Alexander Just Need Signatures
The two promoters Don King for Devon Alexander (21-0 13 KO’s) and Gary Shaw for Timothy Bradley (26-0 11 KO’s) have agreed to a 50-50 split in a Light Welterweight unification match that would unify the WBC, IBF, and WBO titles. No potential date or exact figures were released by either Shaw or King, but it is likely the bout will take very early next year in January, one month after Amir Khan the WBA holder fights.
The only thing that is needed is signatures by both fighters to finalize the deal. Which we know from the tumultuous Mayweater-Pacquiao negotiations means its not a done deal until it is a done deal. In addition, Bradley has made money an issue before as a condition to fighting Alexander. The fact that Alexander’s defense looked very vulnerable to Kotelnik in his last fight will probably encourage Bradley to sign this fight. Bradley also took notice of Alexander sporting a T-shirt calling him out after the Kotelnik fight. Both fighters have had a collision course for the last few years and with these developments it is likely they will finally meet. In the past, it has been Bradley who was perceived as the man ducking Alexander. Bradley who calls himself a “throwback fighter and willing to fight all” now needs to execute the signature on the contract an put his critics to rest. Besides Mayweather-Pacquiao or a Klitschko-Haye bout this is possibly the most anticipated fight out there. This is why there is added incentive for this fight to get done. Within a few weeks, we should know if both fighters sign and deliver the fight.
