Maidana beats Chop Chop by UD

August 29, 2010

It was expected to be an easy win by Marcos Rene Maidana a young powerful fighter against an old veteran like Demarcus “Chop Chop” Corley. But after dominating the fight early on it was the younger Maidana who seem to punch himself out and the older Corley who looked fresher.  Corley a fighter that wobbled guys like Cotto and Mayweather demonstrated how crafitiness can neutralize power.  Maidana still was able to hand on with a UD in Bueons Aires, Argentina, with the judges scoring it 116-110, 115-112, and 117-110.

Maidana is now (29-1 27 KO’s) and is hoping to land a fight with Amir Khan for december this year.  This is now a probable match as Juan Manuel Marquez is now likely going to face Michael Katsidis as a mandatory defense of his WBO Lightweight title.
